Puget Sound Blood Center Needs Volunteers

I’m the volunteer coordinator for Puget Sound Blood Center (now called Bloodworks NW). I would like to offer volunteer opportunities at any of our 13 blood collection center and our community blood drives. This is a great opportunity for students are who interested in the medical field.

We are recruiting for donor monitors. Donor monitors are volunteers who pass out the juice and cookies to a donor after their donation, monitor donors for any adverse reactions from the blood donation and deliver positive customer service to the donor during their wait time with us.

I was hoping to interest your students in this opportunity. Below is a detailed description of this volunteer opportunity.

Canteen Volunteers – Play an integral part in making each donor feel welcomed and appreciated for their time and donation. Provide donors refreshments, monitor them for any adverse reactions and schedule donors for their next appointment.  Volunteers should enjoy working with the public, friendly and attentive to donors at all times.

**** We are recruiting canteen volunteers for local blood centers and drives across Western Washington. Most shifts are 3-6 hours long. A 45 minute lunch break is given to those working a longer blood drive shift.

There is a 2 hr. training required before you start

Quilting Classes - FREE
In an effort to encourage some of your students to learn to quilt, I would like to offer a free 6 week quilt course to any of your students that are interested. We will concentrate on making a nine-patch quilt for their twin bed or a lap size quilt for the couch. This class will be geared for students between the ages of 12-18 with some basic sewing machine knowledge. Sewing machine basics can be taught in a separate class prior to the quilting class.

Students will need fabric and supplies (buy or bring from home). Students will receive a 30% off fabric or supplies bought at my store for class.

Quilting is a wonderful art and can be a very useful skill. A quilter uses math, learns color effect, sewing equipment use and much more! Classes will be held at Mary's Quilt and Fabric in Snohomish, Washington. The time and date of classes will be determined by the students schedules. Please have any interested group contact me.

Community Service Opportunity with Horses
We are a non-profit charity 501c3 organization whose sole purpose is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, abandoned or neglected horses in the King county area, ultimately adopting these amazing animals into forever loving homes.

We are in need of horse loving volunteers interested helping us care for the horses daily needs. I wanted to present this opportunity to your organization as you may have some high school students in need of community service hours from a qualified charity. I hope you are able to pass this onto the person in charge of listing these types of opportunities.
